The services we deliver
HVCCC is the only organisation taking in an end-to-end Hunter Valley Coal Chain view and working independently of individual interests to optimise the performance of the entire network.
With services spanning from 'day of operations' to 10 years, HVCCC aligns coal chain capacity with demand, integrating maintenance and operation to synchronise the flow of coal from load points to power stations and vessels through a vast network of interdependent infrastructure. HVCCC planning and scheduling routinely delivers productivity and efficiency that is aspirational for other coal chains, as well as accurate forecasting and modelling, and insightful analysis.
Although executing the perfect plan is ideal, disruptions from weather, unplanned maintenance and schedule slippage are inevitable across such a vast network. Amid these challenges, Members depend on HVCCC to maximise throughput for peaks lasting weeks or months and, at all times, to optimise the efficient interaction of coal chain assets to serve collective needs, mitigating the increasing complexity of demand being met from more distant load points.
What We Do

Service Delivery
Plans and coordinates the flow of coal throughout the network from day-of-operations out to 12 weeks ahead. We manage the complex stakeholder engagements across the entire Member group using advanced facilitation, negotiation and collaboration skills. We combine our coal chain expertise with specialist decision support software to deliver medium-term plans and a range of daily maintenance, cargo assembly, stockpile and vessel plans, and the rail haulage schedules.
Capacity and Performance
Leads collaboration, strategic planning and continuous improvement of the coal chain. We model and analyse existing and prospective scenarios using cutting-edge technology and ingenuity, delivering value-adding insights for our Members. Our team supports HVCCC and Members by identifying, facilitating, and delivering improvements in processes, systems and people. Our products and services include ad hoc capacity assessments, supply chain analysis and industry improvements, 10-year Master Plans, Annual Forecasts, Annual Declarations and System Assumptions to achieve Track and Terminal Contract Demand.
Business Services
Ensures innovative design, delivery and sustainment of HVCCC's systems and insightful analysis and reporting on coal chain performance. Our systems are the foundation for delivering HVCCC's products and services and include the enhanced Whole-of-Coal-Chain model, Integrated Planning System, Capacity Transfer System, RACE and HVCCC Insight. Our systems integrate HVCCC and Member’s information to enhance decision speed and accuracy, underpinning HVCCC's end-to-end plans, schedules and analysis for the Hunter Valley Coal Chain.
Corporate Services
Delivers the essential functions of Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, Legal, Risk Management, Facilities Management, Communications and Strategic and Business Planning. We ensure HVCCC attracts, retains and develops our people to thrive in a safe, efficient and highly productive workplace. Successful Corporate Services mitigate organisational risk and ensure our people at HVCCC are committed and inspired to meet the needs of our Members. Successful commercial processes provide coal chain Members with confidence that their funding is spent in line with HVCCC business objectives.
